Prayers are pouring in for NASCAR star Denny Hamlin and his family after a fire at his parent’s house left one person dead and another seriously hurt.
WSOC-TV in Charlotte reports that a fire occurred at a house in Gaston County, N.C. Sunday evening. A call about the fire came in at around 6 p.m. Sunday, per the report.
Officials said Monday that the parents of NASCAR star Denny Hamlin were living at the house. They have not revealed the name of the person who died due to the fire, or the person who is seriously injured.
No additional details have been revealed about the fire, and the cause of the fire is unknown. The house is owned by Hamlin, according to WSOC.
WCNC in Charlotte reports that the person who was hurt in the fire suffered life-threatening injuries. WCNC adds that the fire resulted in a complete loss of the home.
Denny Hamlin has competed in the NASCAR Cup Series since 2005 and has earned 60 wins for his career. That mark includes three Daytona 500 victories.
NASCAR fans were left heartbroken over the news about Hamlin’s family.
“This is horrible. Praying for Denny and his family,” one fan said.
Another added: “Dear God… wrap this family up tight. I cannot imagine what’s going thru their heads right now. Not the way anyone should have their life ended. What a tragedy. So very sorry Hamlin family and friends are having to go thru this.”
