The Miami Dolphins are exploring all avenues to ensure they find the right person for their general manager opening.
Hall of Fame quarterback and ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Troy Aikman is being brought in as a consultant to advise the GM search process, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday.
Schefter added that Miami “wanted an outside respected perspective from someone who had strong relationships across the league.”
Before becoming an analyst, Aikman spent 12 seasons as the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, where he was named to six Pro Bowls and won three Super Bowls before being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Between his playing and broadcasting career, Aikman has spent over 30 years with the NFL.
The Dolphins and former GM Chris Grier agreed to mutually part ways on Oct. 31 following a 2-7 start to the season.
