With the City of Toronto having taken back floors of Old City Hall from the Province as courts have moved out to modern facilities, the municipal government is starting to rethink the building’s uses. Plans include opening a Museum of Toronto, a new library branch, moving the City’s wedding chapel services here from New City Hall, and other options, all of which are as yet unfunded and subject to change, but in the meantime, on Fridays throughout July and August, a café is opening for limited hours within the building’s often overlooked courtyard. In this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor rdaner taken on the café’s first operating day, a slow start may be indicative of quite a long transition for the landmark.
