Michael Angeletti says he knew he would catch George Springer’s home run ball before it actually happened. CTV’s Allison Hurst reports.

Toronto Blue Jays fan Michael Angeletti has 30,000 more reasons to celebrate catching George Springer’s home run ball in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Speaking to CTV News Toronto Wednesday morning, Angeletti said the ball sold for US$26,840 following an auction last month, which netted him roughly $30,000 Canadian, after fees.

“I’m feeling rested. Relaxed,” he said after returning from a short cruise to celebrate the windfall.

The go-ahead three-run homer late in the Oct. 20 series-clinching game sent the Blue Jays to their first World Series in 32 years, with a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners. Toronto had trailed Seattle for most of the game before Springer went yard and drove the ball 381 feet into Angeletti’s glove.

“I kind of blacked out for about four seconds in the moment,” Angeletti told CTV News after the game.

Auction host Goldin started the bidding at US$10,000 and saw 12 bids before the ball was sold on Dec. 13. It’s unclear who purchased it.

Angeletti said he’s “super excited” about the Blue Jays’ 2026 season, underscoring that the team will be on a “war path” following their heart-breaking loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Fall Classic.

“We know what it takes,” he said. “We’re super focused and we’re going to get it done.”
