While many Canadians spent the holidays digging out from incessant snowstorms, waking up in darkness and figuring out how to cover their Christmas bills, former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was all smiles as he baked in the sun with his new girlfriend Katy Perry.

This week, the pop star shared a photo dump to Instagram that showed off how she spent her Christmas vacation, captioning the post, “Holidaze ♥️.”

In one pic, Trudeau was seen smiling as he swam in the water under a mostly clear sky. In another, the deeply unpopular politician sported a wide grin as Perry nuzzled in for a kiss on the neck as the sun set in the background.
Perry also showed off a gold maple leaf necklace, in a subtle nod to Canada.
The Dark Horse singer also included photos of her daughter, five-year-old Daisy Dove, and her ex-fiance Orlando Bloom, visiting a Christmas tree farm, as well as a short video of the three skating together.
Bloom’s Christmas-themed name tag was then seen at a dinner table alongside ones for his son Flynn, whom he shares with model-turned-businesswoman Miranda Kerr, Daisy and Perry.

A glimpse at Daisy’s Christmas list showed she was going to be asking Santa for a pet cat (but there’s no confirmation she got one, though). Perry also gave fans a peek at other ways she spent the holidays, including taking in a performance of The Nutcracker, an animatronic Santa Claus and a screenshot of her setting a notification to remind herself to move the Elf on the Shelf.

Trudeau loves the attention he’s getting for dating Perry
Trudeau and Perry first sparked dating rumours when they were spotted having dinner in Montreal in July.
Shortly afterwards, photos and videos shared to social media showed Trudeau dancing and singing at Perry’s concert at Montreal’s Bell Centre, alongside his 16-year-old daughter, Ella-Grace.
In one video, Trudeau was seen belting out the lyrics to Perry’s 2010 hit, Firework.

The pair were then photographed in late September hugging and kissing aboard Perry’s yacht.
They then celebrated Perry’s 41st birthday at the Crazy Horse Paris and were photographed by TMZ leaving the venue holding hands and smiling.
“Of course, Katy and Justin looked absolutely stunning together and appeared to be happier than clams,” the website reported.
An insider close to Perry told PEOPLE that the whirlwind romance is a “life twist” that caught the pop star by surprise following her split from Bloom.
“Dating Justin is something she never saw coming, but she’s really enjoying this surprising life twist,” the Perry source said.

Another source told Page Six that Trudeau is “crazy” about Perry.
“He is crazy about her and thinks she is the perfect woman,” the insider said in October. “They are simpatico on everything, including politics, kids and French food.”

Last month, after the pair went Instagram official, another person in the know said that Trudeau, who announced his resignation as prime minister a year ago, was loving the newfound attention he was getting thanks to his relationship.
“Star f***ing is very much the Trudeau brand,” a political source told the New York Post in December. “I don’t think these things are hard to arrange when you’re in those circles.”
Another source said Perry’s affection has given Trudeau a much-needed ego lift after he saw his popularity sink to all-time lows.
“He felt inadequate,” the source claimed.
Trudeau’s ex Sophie Gregoire says his new relationship ‘feels like noise’
As pictures of Trudeau and Perry made front-page news worldwide, his ex Sophie Gregoire shared a cryptic message about “letting go” with her 371,000 Instagram followers last fall.

During an appearance on the Can’t Be Censored podcast in November, Gregoire, who split from Trudeau in 2023, said commentary around his new relationship “feels like noise.”
In another chat with Arlene Dickinson’s Arlene Is Alone: The Single Life, Gregoire insisted she wasn’t bothered by Trudeau’s high-profile romance.
“I don’t know how you stay cool … I really admire it because I would probably not be that way,” Dickson remarked.
“You know, we’re human beings and stuff affects us. Normal,” Gregoire responded. “How you react to stuff is your decision. So, I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.”
