The Art Gallery of Algoma is closed today due to what’s being described as a major flood.

The gallery is home to a permanent collection of over 5,000 works of art including paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, and installation works.

Its collection includes work by Group of Seven painters.

AGA officials were not immediately available for comment.

It’s unknown if the flooding has damaged any artwork.

The area did receive a lot of rain overnight and has had a lot of snow melt due to warm temperatures, so much that across the river they were forced to do a bypass of some processes at the wastewater treatment plant.
