One of Canadian celebrity chef Matty Matheson’s restaurants in Toronto is closing, just four years after opening its doors.

Cà Phê Rang, a “casual dining Vietnamese restaurant” located on Spadina Avenue between Queen and Richmond streets, announced on Instagram that it would be closing down later this month.

“With a heavy heart and immense gratitude, we’re sharing that Cà Phê Rang will be closing on January 24th, 2026, as our lease comes to an end and a new tenant takes over our beloved space,” the post said.

The restaurant that serves popular items like pho and bánh mì was opened in late 2021 by Matheson and fellow Toronto chef Rang Nguyen.

Cà Phê Rang’s website describes the eatery as a “project of love” and “an ode to Vietnamese food,” adding that chef Rang “showed Matty the way.”

It was open seven days a week for dine-in, takeout, and delivery and was one of six restaurants currently in operation under Matheson’s company Our House Hospitality Company.

It had also been recommended by the Michelin Guide.

“For the past four years, this has been our home – a place to share delicious meals with loved ones,” the post continued. “We’re incredibly proud of what we built here, and endlessly thankful to everyone who supported us along the way. ”

The restaurant invited patrons to join them for “a farewell meal, one last coffee, and a celebratory goodbye” between now and their closing date.
