The Alex Dufresne Gallery is opening a new exhibit on Saturday, Jan. 10 entitled “Driven to Abstraction,” featuring works by members of the North Bay Art Association.
The opening event is open to all and runs 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Artists will be in attendance and light refreshments will be served. Admission is by donation.
In a release, gallery curator Natasha Wiatr noted, “Driven to Abstraction brings together a lively mix of styles, from bold shapes and energetic colour fields to layered mixed-media works. The exhibition highlights how these artists push beyond realism to explore mood, movement, memory, and pure visual play.”
“These pieces show just how many directions abstraction can take—sometimes lyrical, sometimes chaotic, sometimes quietly contemplative, but always rooted in curiosity. Abstract art often asks us to respond first with our senses rather than with words,” Wiatr continued.
The exhibition will remain on view at the gallery until Feb. 21. The gallery is located at 107 Lansdowne Street, in Callander. It’s in the same building as the Callander museum.
