Trying to keep household food costs down is a tough gig these days, but there are things one can do.
Eat Real Therapy, a nutrition and fitness service in metro, says one thing is for certain – we can’t afford to waste food these days.
Fitness and nutrition coach Kathy Roe says meal planning is very important. The meat counter can be a scary place with costs of some products out of reach for some people, but Roe says she gets quite a few meals out of items such as a rotisserie chicken.
It’s the time of year when many turn over a new leaf, and adding protein to the plate is a healthy way to go about things says Roe.
“You can cut that up and make meals from it for the next two or three days, inexpensively. Takeout and convenience food has also gotten very expensive so now is the time to get good at meal planning,” says Roe.
