Bobby Cannavale may be the first person in history to miss the Golden Globes for this particular reason.
After winning the Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy film for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” on Jan. 11, Rose Byrne revealed that “my husband,” Cannavale, was not in attendance because “we’re getting a bearded dragon, and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey.”
Speaking to Extra backstage, the “Platonic” star, 46, clarified this “ridiculous” reason for Cannavale’s absence “really is true,” adding that his reptile excursion was “going well.”
“We’ve got the guy,” she said, referring to their new bearded dragon. “He’s really cute, and he’s in the house.”

She added, “Bobby’s doing God’s work. This is easy.”
Byrne also told Extra that she briefly spoke with Cannavale backstage after her win. “We had a quick FaceTime, but the reception was pretty bad,” she said. “It was super cute. He was crying, and he was adorable. I wish he was here, but my brother’s here.”
The “Bridesmaids” actress previously revealed Cannavale would be missing the Golden Globes for this reason during a stop by “The Tonight Show” last week.

“He can’t come, which is such a bummer, but he’s going to a reptile expo in New Jersey,” she said. “We’re getting a bearded dragon.”
“It’s this expo where everyone goes, and it’s the place to go, and it’s on the same day, and it would just be such a parent fail [not to go],” she added as Fallon marveled at her “insane” story. “So we’re doing it, and I’m on board for the dragon. It’s going to be great.”

Byrne has received the best reviews of her career for her role as a struggling mother in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.” This was the first Golden Globe win of her career after two previous nominations.
