“Bam” Focused Upon Shazam!
Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez isn’t gazing beyond his next opponent or the wide blue yonder.
Although the dawning horizon holds great opportunities, the young WBC super flyweight champion keeps his eyes firmly on what will happen this Saturday at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

Rodríguez will face undefeated South African Phumelele Cafu in a bout marking his first defense of the belt he won last year. The fight will be broadcast on DAZN and will take place just hours from his hometown of San Antonio, providing an extra emotional filip for the Texan.
“My goal has always been to reach the top, but for that, I have to take it step by step. This fight is key—I don’t allow myself to think beyond it until I get through it,” said the 25-year-old southpaw.
Rodríguez arrives undefeated with a record of 21 wins, 14 by knockout, and a notable streak of outstanding performances at the elite level. His most recent victory was a decisive third-round knockout over Pedro Guevara, confirming his status as one of the division’s mos dazzling champions.

On the other side is Cafu, a tough, resourceful and resilient fighter, who surprised the world by winning on the road in his last appearance. The South African comes undefeated in 14 professional fights, with 8 knockouts, promising to stand and deliver.
“Cafu is a very dangerous opponent. He comes motivated, prepared, and with the experience of having won away from home. But I’ve also trained to the maximum and I’m ready for whatever comes,” Rodríguez assured.
The fight represents not only a title defense but also a further step in Rodríguez’s quest to establish himself as the best in the division. He has repeatedly expressed his desire to keep building a solid legacy in boxing by facing the best and collecting belts.

“Every fight is a step. I’m focused on winning and continuing to grow as a champion. I don’t want to leave any doubts.”
If he wins this Saturday, Rodríguez’s path could lead to even bigger challenges before the year ends. However, true to his style, the champion does not let future entrap or enrapture him.
“Everything comes at the right time. For now, the only thing that matters is getting in the ring and putting on a great fight in Texas.”
