Authorities are investigating an alleged burglary at the home of NASCAR legend Greg Biffle, just three weeks after he and his family died in a plane crash in North Carolina.

Deputies responded to Biffle’s estate in Iredell County shortly after 6 p.m. on Jan. 8, the sheriff’s office said.

A backpack along with $30,000 in cash were reported missing from the home, according to authorities. Firearms and memorabilia were also reported stolen during the burglary, Dara St. John with the sheriff’s office said.

No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said.

Biffle, his wife Cristina and their two children, along with three other people, died in a plane crash at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina on Dec. 18.

The plane had crashed while trying to land on a runway at the airport, just about 10 minutes after taking off. The aircraft, a Cessna C550, was owned by GB Aviation Leasing, a company owned by Biffle, according to NBC affiliate WCNC of Charlotte.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.

Biffle is a NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee and was named one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers, winning 19 NASCAR Cup Series races.

He was also a pilot, and notably helped deliver supplies to victims in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina via private helicopter last year.
