Alicante hosts prestigious cycling tour stages boosting sports tourism appeal.

NEXT month, the province of Alicante will feature prominently in the Volta Ciclista a la Comunitat Valenciana, or Cycling Tour of the Valencian Community, with two of its main stages located in the shining province. The top cycling teams from the whole of Spain and beyond are set to make a grand appearance for this event, taking place from February 4 to February 8, 2026, in the historic centre of Orihuela and the town of Sant Vicent del Raspeig.

A challenging cycling showcase on the Costa Blanca

The athletes will make their way to the Costa Blanca for a 158-kilometre race between the two areas, divided into two main parts: the first 100 kilometres being flat, and the final 50 kilometres including challenging climbs, one of them being Alto de Tibi.

For the province, the hosting of a grand, prestigious, and important sporting event such as the Cycling Tour of the Valencian Community reaffirms its position as one of the sports hubs of the Costa Blanca, constantly attracting visitors year-round due to its bustling activity. Not only this, the traffic of tourists, spectators, and supporters allows for a boost to the local economy and the development of tourism.
