A Toronto police officer has been charged after allegedly stealing property, including bank cards, delivered to a downtown station last year.
Toronto Police Service (TPS) said the theft occurred in multiple instances in October 2025.
Instead of logging the items after being delivered to 52 Division, the officer allegedly took them.
An investigation resulted in multiple items recovered, some of which were reported stolen to police, TPS said. Among the recovered items are government-issued ID, bank cards and passports.
Const. Derek McCormick has been arrested and charged with four counts of theft under $5,000, breach of trust and obstruction of justice.
TPS said McCormick has been with the force for 28 years and was assigned to 52 Division. He has been suspended with pay.
