After their loss to the Buffalo Sabres, the Canadiens moved quickly and made roster changes.
The three-goalie situation is over for now.
Kent Hughes has made his decision, sending two players from the Canadiens’ lineup back to the Laval Rocket.
Jacob Fowler and Owen Beck sent back to the Laval Rocket, one day after the loss to the Buffalo Sabres

“The Canadiens have loaned forward Owen Beck and goaltender Jacob Fowler to the Laval Rocket.”

It’s really unfortunate for Fowler, but following Thursday night’s game, you could say it was starting to feel like this was coming. The three-goalie situation is now behind us.
The day after the game in Buffalo, the Montreal Canadiens assigned Jacob Fowler to the Laval Rocket.
Owen Beck was also sent down to the farm team. That finally settles the headache, at least for now.
For weeks, things had been going in circles. Three goaltenders with the big club is too much management and not enough rhythm.
Fowler therefore returns to Laval after getting his opportunity in Montreal, where he showed encouraging flashes.
In the NHL this season, he recorded four wins and also posted one shutout.
That’s nothing to scoff at for a young player thrown into the mix in the middle of a packed schedule.
The return to Laval isn’t an automatic punishment. It’s mainly a way to get him more starts and to keep the door open for another recall.
The Rocket plays often, and a goaltender needs repetitions, not long stretches of waiting.
For Jakub Dobes, it changes the picture immediately. With Fowler back down, the Canadiens return to a more normal tandem with Samuel Montembeault.
You can like Dobes or not, but at least the plan becomes clearer for everyone.
And in all of this, Owen Beck is also heading back to Laval.
He too will get more ice time, which matters in a season where the Canadiens have to manage their lineup, recalls, and important games in the standings.
