Someone infected with measles traveled from Madrid to Montreal on an Air Canada flight recently, bringing a new confirmed case into the city.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) recently reported that the person was on Air Canada flight AC 835. It landed at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport at 3:51 p.m. on January 8th. Anyone who may have been exposed to this traveler is advised to monitor symptoms until January 29, 2026.
On the Quebec Health website, it was stated that: “As of January 16, 2026, 11 a.m., nine confirmed cases of measles have been reported in connection with the current outbreak. The regions currently affected are: Lanaudière, Laurentides, Laval and Montréal.” The new confirmed case is not linked to the current outbreak, they said.
