What’s Happening?

After months of questions from fans, iRacing Studios is finally adding more number choices for players making custom cars in the game’s paint kit.

The January patch will be live on ALL platforms by around Noon EST tomorrow, 1/21/2026. It will include the following updates:

– UGC moderation (ability to block and report paint schemes) Ability to share shapes coming soon.
– Added Portland to Quick Race and Online… pic.twitter.com/Qt2zky73Wj

While the addition of additional number choices may feel small, it was a complaint that users have had since the game’s release in October.

Past NASCAR games, even those as recent as 2021’s NASCAR Ignition 21, featured many number options for players making custom cars, though NASCAR 25 limited users to select numbers.

At launch, users had to choose between:

NASCAR Cup Series: 25 Numbers

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series: 34 Numbers

NASCAR Xfinity Series: 39 Numbers

ARCA Menards Series: 30 Numbers

In an interview in late October 2025, NASCAR 25 Producer Matt Lewis explained that this was out of the hands of the studio and left up to NASCAR.

We don’t control this. NASCAR tells us what numbers we can / cannot use.

While there is no explanation for these additions, it could factor into what teams claim what numbers for the 2025-26 season, or even a change of heart from NASCAR. Regardless, fans who use the game’s expansive paint kit will be happy to have the expanded selection.

These additional numbers will come as part of a broad sweeping update set to go live on Wednesday.

Alongside the addition of these numbers, iRacing is adding and modernizing the look of Sonoma Raceway, adding Portland International Raceway to single-player and online mode for the Xfinity and ARCA Menards Series, and tweaking some gameplay aspects.
