Arizona Men’s Golf wins the Copper Cup after defeating No.21 UCLA, 7-5 in the championship match.

The Wildcats opened the day with alternate-shot foursomes and earned three of the four available points. William Wistrand and Matej Baca delivered an early 1-up victory, while Zach Pollo and Tianyi Xiong followed with another 1-up win. Arizona picked up its most decisive foursome result from Taishi Moto and Filip Jakubcik, who closed out their match 5&4. The lone setback in foursomes came from the pairing of Dillon Dean and Connor Hamm, who fell 5&3.

Arizona carried that momentum into singles play, winning four of the eight matches to clinch the overall result. William Wistrand turned in one of the most dominant performances of the day with a 7&6 victory, while Connor Hamm added a 3&2 win. Filip Jakubcik continued his strong showing by earning a 1-up decision, and Zach Pollo closed out his match 6&5.

UCLA earned singles points from Josh Kim, Tyler Loree, Alex Papayoanou, and Logan Kim, but Arizona’s depth across the lineup proved to be the difference.

With the win over UCLA, the Wildcats capped a strong team performance highlighted by balanced scoring in both sessions. The Wildcats took down the No.7 and No.21 ranked teams to start the spring season with a win.Â
