The New York Mets have been on a heater lately, swinging massive trades and making big signings. While they added Devin Williams and Luke Weaver early in the offseason, their recent moves have been huge.
Bo Bichette and Luis Robert Jr. are great pickups for the lineup, while their most recent trade is a big one for the rotation. The deal, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan, is for Milwaukee Brewers pitchers Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers.
The Mets’ starting rotation projection for 2026 looks to be a very strong one, and while a team like the Los Angeles Dodgers has received plenty of praise for their rotation, the new-look Mets rotation can go toe-to-toe with the best in baseball after this trade.
Mets 2026 rotation projection is one of best in baseball
1. Freddy Peralta
2. Nolan McLean
3. David Peterson
4. Clay Holmes
5. Sean Manaea
This new-look rotation is being led by Peralta, who immediately becomes the top starter on the team. With McLean right behind him and the others rounding out the rotation, this has a chance to be one of the best starting pitching rooms in all of baseball this season.
He’s a two-time All-Star coming off a 2.70 ERA season in 2025. With McLean, the rookie starter who looked incredible in 2025 for the Mets, and the duo of Holmes and Peterson in the middle of the rotation, it’s a great one.
The fifth spot is a little bit more uncertain. Manaea is currently in that spot, but someone like Kodai Senga, with a strong Spring Training or stint in the minors, might get a chance to regain his spot in the rotation.
Tylor Megill is hurt, but he could factor into the rotation at some point this season. The same goes for Myers, whom the Mets just acquired in this trade with the Brewers.

Jonah Tong could also become a starter for the Mets in 2026 if needed, but with McLean looking like an ace after his 2.06 ERA start to his MLB career, and the rest of the starters in the rotation after him and Peralta, the Mets have a newfound strength.
The Mets can compete offensively with the top teams in the Major Leagues after their busy offseason, and now, they have the bullpen and the starting rotation to match.
This Peralta trade was a big one for the Mets, as Sproat and Jett Williams, both top prospects, were dealt to acquire a new ace to lead the rotation in 2026. It’s a revamped rotation, and one that looks like one of the best in the league.
