This week the world of Westeros returns to our screens with A Knight of Seven Kingdoms and a Game of Thrones alumnus, Sophie Turner, stars in the slick new thriller Steal. Ryan Murphy serves up his latest horror series in the shape of The Beauty, an estranged husband and wife lock horns in His & Hers and a battle for the inheritance of a vast wine estate continues in Drops of God.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (Sky/Now)

The third TV series based on the Song of Ice and Fire series of books by George RR Martin, this new drama is set after the events of House of the Dragon and before those of Game of Thrones. This relatively compact six-part series is an adaptation of the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas and stars Peter Claffey as the hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and Dexter Sol Ansell as his squire Aegon Targaryen (Egg). If the adventures of Westeros are something you miss, this could be your next favourite show.

Steal (Prime Video)

Game of Thrones star (and soon to be Lara Croft Tomb Raider lead) Sophie Turner heads the cast of this fast-paced conspiracy thriller set in London. Focusing on a young disillusioned woman, Zara (Turner), who gets caught up in a heist at the pension fund where she works, the story quickly escalates as layer upon layer of lies and deception reveal things are not what they seem. A slick and fun six-part series with just the right balance of action and intrigue, you’ll be bingeing this one in a weekend.

The Beauty (Disney+)

American Horror Story super-producer Ryan Murphy returns with a new sci-fi horror in the shape of The Beauty, a comic book adaptation starring Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, Ashton Kutcher and Rebecca Hall. It’s based around the arrival of a new sexually transmitted treatment that grants people aesthetic outward beauty but beneath the surface is causing lethal side-effects. The show follows an FBI investigation as public panic grows and it becomes clear that there are many competing interests at play.

His & Hers (Netflix)

Starring Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson, this American mystery thriller is based on the 2020 novel by Alice Feeney. The six-part series is about a former news anchor, Anna (Thompson), who is drawn back to her home town after she sees a murder case reported on the news. Driven by professional instinct and deep-rooted ties to the area, she begins digging into the case and in doing so clashes with Detective Jack Harper (Bernthal), her estranged husband, who is suspicious of her interest in the case and return to the area.

Drops of God (Apple TV)

International Emmy best series winner in 2024, this French-American-Japanese television series might have flown under your radar so far, but as it returns for a second season, it’s the perfect time to catch up with the drama of wine land. Starring the Japanese actor Tomohisa Yamashita as the star student of a well-known wine expert, and the French actress Fleur Geffrier, the main narrative follows their competition to inherit the vast wine estate left after the death of his mentor and her father.
