A special weather statement has been issued as there’s the potential for up to 20 cm of snow beginning Sunday.

Environment Canada is expecting a weather system will move in either Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon, and snowfall will end Monday morning.

There’s still uncertainty around the winter storm but currently, forecasters are projecting 10 to 20 cm of accumulation.

It’s just the latest weather alert to be issued for Waterloo Region following a spate of recent severe wintry conditions.

As of Friday, the University of Waterloo Weather Station said it has recorded 191.5 cm of snowfall locally since Nov. 1.

For comparison, 196.5 cm of snow was recorded last winter, and the average snowfall total for the season is 159.7 cm.
