Jacob Elordi could be the next James Bond.
Multiple reports claim the “Euphoria” star is allegedly in talks to take on the role of agent 007, following Daniel Craig’s five film run. According to Mandatory, the 28-year-old actor has been having meetings with the upcoming film’s director, Denis Villeneuve (“Dune”), as well as producers.
While the next Bond hasn’t been officially announced, the idea of Elordi, who a became first-time Oscar nominee for “Frankenstein” on Thursday, in the tux has already become a big topic of conversation amongst fans and fellow actors. The consensus? He might not be a good fit for the role due to his height.
On social media, fans immediately claimed his 6′5″ stature didn’t fit the role. “His nemesis this time is gonna be low doorframes,” wrote one person.
Another quipped in a BlueSky post: “Jacob Elordi is too tall to play James Bond. They’d have to give 007 a panel van to drive. He won’t fit in any sports cars.”
Meanwhile, actor Riz Ahmed, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2021 for “Sound of Metal,” has been throwing his own name in the ring. While promoting his upcoming Prime Video comedy series “Bait,” Ahmed told Variety in a piece published Friday that his new role is essentially a 007 audition.
“Everyone has an audition for Bond. Daniel Craig’s was ‘Layer Cake’… This is my audition for Bond. I dare anyone to watch this show and think we shouldn’t play Bond.”
Ahmed added, “I don’t mind who plays James Bond as long as it is me.” His “Bait” co-star Gus Kahn, familiar with the Elordi rumors, told him: “I think Jacob Elordi will be James Bond over Riz Ahmed.”
The outlet wrote that after Kahn said this, Ahmed “playfully stormed off set.”
The next James Bond release date hasn’t been announced, but in September, sources told Deadline that Villeneuve was looking for a “fresh face” to take on the 007 mantle in the franchise’s 26th installment. Additionally, Villeneuve and his collaborators were hoping to cast a British actor — a detail that might work against the Australian Elordi.
What we do know for certain is that the latest James Bond series will be produced under Amazon’s MGM studios following a February 2025 deal. Meanwhile, “Bait,” also produced by Amazon, follows Shah Latif (Ahmed), a struggling actor whose life turns chaotic after his audition for James Bond goes viral. The series will drop on the platform on March 25.
