The U.S. women’s national team return to play for the first time in 2026 on Saturday, kicking off an important year with a friendly against Paraguay. Fresh off signing a historic new deal with the Washington Spirit, Trinity Rodman will headline a group of players who also play in the NWSL for a set of friendlies – including Tuesday’s against Chile – that fall outside FIFA’s international windows. Rodman is the most experienced player on the roster, but a handful of newfound regulars under head coach Emma Hayes also made the cut like Olivia Moultrie and Claire Hutton. Five uncapped players were also included on Hayes’ first roster of the year, like 2025 NWSL Rookie of the Year nominees Maddie Dahlien and Riley Tiernan.

After a year-plus of experimentation after the team’s gold medal-winning run at the 2024 Olympics, Hayes and company are building towards their next major competition – the Concacaf W Championship in November. The tournament will act as the qualification tournament for next year’s Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with Hayes aiming to fully lock in her team’s new identity by then.
