As a winter storm takes over southern Ontario, bringing heavy snow and reduced visibility, several major highway closures were reported across Mississauga and Hamilton on Sunday afternoon.

Ontario 511 said on X (formerly Twitter) that a collision on Highway 6 northbound between Upper James Street and Airport Road/Butter Road in Hamilton led to lane closures.

A second collision was reported on Highway 6 southbound between Airport Road/Butter Road and Upper James Street in Hamilton, also resulting in closures.

In Mississauga, Ontario 511 reported a collision on the QEW Fort Erie–bound on-ramp at Erin Mills Parkway and Southdown Road, with all lanes closed.

The crashes were reported as hazardous winter driving conditions continued across the region, including blowing snow and slippery road surfaces.

Ontario 511 later confirmed that all collisions had been cleared as of 2 p.m. Sunday.

Drivers are advised to continue using caution and allow extra travel time as the winter storm persists.
