Modern master of horror Robert Eggers has wrapped production on his fifth movie, Werwulf.

The period horror film began filming in the UK last fall and is set to hit theaters on December 25 via Focus Features.

Set in 13th century England, Werwulf sees a mysterious creature stalk the land as local folklore becomes a terrifying reality.

Eggers directs from a script he penned with his The Northman co-writer Sjón.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nosferatu), Lily-Rose Depp (Nosferatu), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse), Ralph Ineson (The Witch), and Bodhi Rae Breathnach (Hamnet) star.

Eggers and Sjón produce alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner for Working Title. Maiden Voyage’s Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus are executive producing.

Eggers is currently attached to helm a new take on A Christmas Carol for Warner Bros. and a Labyrinth sequel for TriStar. It’s unclear which project will be next now that Werwulf is in the can.
