He played in 16 games for the Riders before a knee injury ended his season.
This report comes hours after the team decided to move on from wide receiver Shawn Bane Jr.
The CFL club announced it has released the 30-year-old pass catcher after three seasons with the team.
Bane Jr. first signed with the Riders for the 2023 season after a few years with the Calgary Stampeders.
In his first season, he emerged as one of the top receivers in the CFL with 1,104 yards and four touchdowns.
The Sarasota, Fla., product recorded 581 yards and five touchdowns in 2024 before his season was cut short due to a serious leg injury suffered on Sept. 28 against the Ottawa Redblacks.
In 2025, Bane Jr. was still recovering from the injury but was unable to crack the starting roster regularly even once he was healthy. He appeared in just four games last season and was used primarily as a kick returner. He only hauled in four catches for 28 yards.
He was set to become a free agent on Feb. 10 but the Riders’ release of him allows Bane Jr. to sign with another team right away.
Saskatchewan also announced on Wednesday it has signed Kerfalla Exumé to an extension.
The Montreal product suited up for all 18 regular season games last season, plus the Western Final and Grey Cup. Exumé had eight special teams tackles and a forced fumble in 2025, while also adding four defensive tackles.
Saskatchewan will look to defend its Grey Cup title in 2026.
