SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women’s tennis lost a tough battle to Bradley with a 4-2 scoreline on Friday night at Cooper Tennis Complex.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of sophomore Lucy Latham and freshman Matilde Ercoli emerged victorious with a 6-2 scoreline over Bradleys’ Anna Belogliadova and Valeriia Ivanovskaia.

But this was not enough as the Braves secured wins on the second and third courts to take the doubles point.

Missouri State fought back valiantly in singles play.

Freshman Elsie Jackson was the first Bear to win a singles match on court six, overpowering Bradleys’ Amber Sharp, 6-4, 6-2.

On court 2 senior Billur Gonlusen defeated Bradleys’ Mariia Pukhina in a marathon three-setter. After conceding the first set, Gonlusen fought back to win in stunning fashion, with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7- 4) scoreline.

On court No. 5, senior Raluca Puscas fell to Bradley’s Ann Hsieh in another thrilling three-setter, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

After conceding the first set in a tiebreak, Latham turned it around to take the second set right back in another tiebreak, 7-6 (3).
