The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the most active teams this offseason, to no one’s surprise. They’ve taken their already super team, and added two of the best free agents on the market in Edwin Diaz and Kyle Tucker.

Now, they have a chance to make one more move to truly break baseball.. Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer proposes they do so by trading with the Detroit Tigers for their two-time Cy Young, Tarik Skubal.
The trade would look like this:
Dodgers get: LHP Tarik Skubal
Tigers get: RHP Roki Sasaki, OF Zyhir Hope (MLB No. 27), LHP Jackson Ferris
“Between their back-to-back World Series titles and their three straight buzz-worthy offseasons, the Dodgers have as much “What are you going to do about it?” energy as any team in baseball history. They don’t need a trade for Skubal… but at this point, they seem to be doing things just because they can. And given that they have more resources than just money, such a trade is something they indeed can do,” Rymer wrote.

This past season, Skubal won his second Cy Young in a row, posting a 13-6 record, a 2.21 ERA, 241 Ks, and a WHIP of 0.891 in 195 innings pitched. He’d then be put into a rotation with another two-time Cy Young, a Cy Young runner-up, and two All-Star pitchers; forming a rotation of doom and despair for any team facing them.
Skubal is projected to get a monster contract, and the Dodgers and their love of deferrals might be willing to pay it to keep Skubal long-term. Or, they do their other favorite thing, and do a short-term, extremely high AAV to keep Skubal for a couple years.

For every MLB fan that doesn’t root for the Dodgers, hopefully this doesn’t happen. For every L.A. fan, pray it does.
