Jacob Malkoun made his triumphant return at UFC 325, scoring a dominant victory over Torrez Finney.
It didn’t take long to see that Malkoun had a distinct advantage on the feet against Finney. Through the first four minutes, ‘Mamba’ absolutely pummeled his opponent and eventually scored a knockdown, catching Finney with a short left hook before throwing him to the mat.
Malkoun threw some ground strikes before attempting a guillotine that ultimately let Finney get on top. However, there wasn’t enough time for Finney to take advantage of the position.
Coming out for the second round, Finney appeared to have an issue with his left calf. Though he did his best to fight through the apparent injury, he was no match for Malkoun, who was firing on all cylinders. Halfway through the round, Malkoun connected with a right hand that sent Finney crashing to the canvas.
Finney crawled his way to the cage and staved off the ensuing attack from Malkoun to survive the second stanza.
With two rounds already in the bag, Malkoun was content to clinch against the cage and grind out as much time as possible. Finney broke away with just over 90 seconds left in the fight, but a late takedown from Malkoun sealed the deal for the Aussie fan favorite.
