Infielder Luis Arraez and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a one-year, $12 million deal, according to multiple reports.

Jorge Castillo of ESPN was first to report the news.

According to reports, Arraez was seeking a chance to play second base this off-season and is expected to be given the chance in San Francisco. He played primarily first base in 2025.

The 28-year-old spent last season with the San Diego Padres, slashing .292/.327/.392 with eight home runs and 61 RBI in 154 games played. He also led the National League in hits with 181.

A three-time All-Star, Arraez is a lifetime .317 hitter known for his ability to put the ball in play to all fields. He does, however, lack in the power department, with a career slugging percentage of .413 and just 36 home runs in seven MLB seasons.

Arraez began his career with the Minnesota Twins in 2019 and has been traded twice since, going from the Twins to the Miami Marlins in January of 2023 and then from the Marlins to the Padres in May of 2024.

The San Felipe, Venezuela native owns a career regular-season OPS of .777 in 840 total games.
