This is the UFC 325 live blog for Tai Tuivasa vs. Tallison Teixeira, the main card heavyweight bout Saturday at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Tuivasa (14-8), competing for the first time in over 500 days, is likely fighting for his UFC life as he is currently on a five-fight losing streak that stretches back to February 2022. “Bam Bam” remains one of the most feared knockout artists in the division with 12 of his 14 wins coming by way of knockout, but if he falls short again Saturday, it might be the last time fans see him in the octagon.

On the other side, Teixeira (8-1) also has a lot to prove. The towering Brazilian suffered his first loss this past July in the main event of UFC Nashville, where he had the opportunity to take on longtime fan favorite Derrick Lewis and quickly ascend the heavyweight ranks. Unfortunately for Teixeira, he suffered a 35-second knockout loss and now has to battle to rebuild his hype.

Is this the last time Tai Tuivasa makes the walk to the octagon? It feels like just yesterday he was going on a completely unexpected run to a title shot. If it wasn’t for that dastardly Ciryl Gane, he might have got it, too!

Tuivasa goes right at Teixeira and Teixeira immediately takes him down, ha ha ha! The boos rain down. Teixiera looking for openings for ground-and-pound as he smothers Tuivasa against the fence. Tuivasa up to his knees, but that’s a big mean leaning on him right now.

And Tuivasa is up! Teixeira is holding on tight and he drives a knee to Tuivasa’s belly as referee Marc Goddard warns Tuivasa about a fence grab. Teixeira has Tuivasa back down and he briefly gets to full mount before Tuivasa works out of that trouble. It’s all Teixeira through half a round. Tuivasa just hanging on to one of Teixeira’s hands for dear life.

Teixeira gets his hand free and he lands a punch and an elbow. Methodical ground-and-pound from Teixeira, he’s picking his spots, not wasting energy. Tuivasa staying calm with time ticking away on a lost round. More punches from Teixeira.

A minute to go and Tuivasa worms his way out and they’re standing. Teixeira ties a charging Tuivasa up. Stalemate against the fence, Tuivasa giving the crowd a little hope at least.

Tuivasa not deterred, he’s coming forward right away again. Tuivasa ducks a punch and lands a right hand. Teixeira whiffs on a spinning backfist. Right hand from Tuivasa scores again. Teixeira lands a body kick. Good inside leg kick by Tuivasa. Another with Teixeira off balance. Another leg kick scores for Teixeira, which sets up a big right.

Teixeira smacks Tuivasa with a three-punch combination, completely undefended, and then Teixeira takes him down. Tuivasa trying to sprawl, but Teixeira has his legs and just tips him over. Teixiera transitions to full mount. Tuivasa gives up his back, he just can’t get Teixeira off of him. He turns over with Teixeira still on top. Pace has… slowed considerably. Teixeira content to ride out another successful round.

Tuivasa opening up with a pair of good body shots. Teixeira looks like he’s just biding his time either to take this back to the mat or just coast to a decision win. Gas tank looking questionable as Teixeira goes for a half-hearted single leg. They tie up against the fence and Teixeira looks fine with it.

They disengage and Tuivasa is THROWING. Right hands are connecting, but Teixeira is up and he fires back. Left hook from Tuivasa, then a right. Big man wobbling, but Tuivasa looks like he just runs out of energy and he is leaning on Teixeira. Yikes.

Elbow from Tuivasa, then an uppercut. Two minutes left and we’ve got a shared hands-on-hips pose. Breathe, gentlemen. Tuivasa with the grappling again, my goodness, what are we doing? Tuivasa with a high elbow, but he cannot sustain any offense, he’s just so tired. Sad. Another elbow from Tuivasa, and Teixeira goes for a desperation takedown. Tuivasa just sprawls and falls on him, these guys can barely move. Looks like Teixeira is hanging on to Tuivasa’s arms to keep him from posturing up. Tuivasa trying to find openings to punch but Teixeira is just, uh, crawling in to him to push him over? Thrilling finish.
