Infielder Eugenio Suarez and the Cincinnati Reds are in agreement on a one-year, $15 million deal, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Passan adds the deal includes a mutual option for the 2027 season. He adds Suarez is expected to receive most of his at-bats as a designated hitter despite playing mostly third base last season.

The 34-year-old matched his career high with 49 home runs in 2025 while playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners. Suarez was traded from the D-Backs to the Mariners ahead of the trade deadline and was effective down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs.

Suarez hit two home runs and drove in seven runs during the American League Championship Series against the Toronto Blue Jays and turned in a .956 OPS in the series as the Mariners fell in seven games.

A native of Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, Suarez spent seven seasons in Cincinnati from 2015 to 2022, matching his career-best with 49 homers as a Red in 2019.

A veteran of 12 MLB seasons split between the Detroit Tigers, Reds, Mariners and Diamondbacks, Suarez has 325 career home runs in 1,630 regular season games.
