BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Karina Elvestrom of the No. 20 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Elvestrom won both her #1 singles and #1 doubles matches against the University of Sioux Falls, an NCAA Division II team, on Saturday. The sophomore defeated the Cougars’ Cloe Siegfort, who won four NSIC #1 singles matches last year, at #1 singles 6-2, 6-2. In the #1 doubles match, Elvestrom teamed up with Kaya De Bruijn to win 6-3.
Gustavus is set to play four matches on the road on Saturday, February 7 with half their squad taking on Nebraska-Kearney and McPherson while the other half is at UMary and Jamestown.
