Gilgeous-Alexander, 27, logged 28 minutes of action against Orlando on Tuesday night, down from his season average of 33.3.
The Hamilton, Ont. native is in the midst of another stellar season, averaging 31.8 points per game to go along with 6.4 assists and 4.4 rebounds.
Gilgeous-Alexander was voted as an All-Star starter for the festivities in Los Angeles later this month, but will also be forced out of the new USA vs. WOrld format introduced this year.
With their star guard set to be sidelined, the Thunder acquired second-year guard Jared McCain from the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick and three second-rounders.
Oklahoma City has played to a 40-11 record this season after winning the Larry O’Brien trophy last spring, and currently hold a six-game lead over the San Antonio Spurs for first place in the Western Conference.
