Once a dependable and long-term presence on our TVs as British Eurosport, before morphing into Eurosport/GCN and now TNT, live cycling coverage on TV is moving again in Ireland and Britain.

TNT – which many viewers in Ireland access for streaming via a NOW TV subscription – is being absorbed into the new HBO Max streaming service. That change is due to take place from March 26th, meaning you don’t have to do anything right now.

However, when the time comes, you will need to access your live cycling streaming via the new HBO Max app, or via HBOMax.com.

This latest development comes about because Warner Bros Discovery is currently consolidating its content. And from next month, HBO Max will combine Warner Bros’s TV, film and sports content.

Three years ago GCN+ closed, which resulted in cycling moving back to Eurosport. However, last year live cycling in Ireland move again, to TNT, which has been available via Discovery+.

Under the new changes, cycling will remain on the traditional linear TV channels but for streaming – watching live cycling via an app on your phone or via your laptop – it will move to HBO Max.

The good news is that all existing Now TV subscribers need to do is to download the HBO Max app, or go to the website, and login using the same details you currently use for NowTV. It also seems the price will not change; not for now anyway. We say “seems” because, in the announcement, only the UK fee is mentioned, and it remains unchanged.

“For the first time, audiences in the UK and Ireland will be able to stream the exclusive collection of unmissable stories from HBO, Warner Bros Pictures, Warner Bros Television, DC Studios and Max Originals, all in one place via HBO Max,” said an announcement on TNT.

“HBO Max will also become the streaming home of TNT Sports in the UK, giving subscribers access to top quality live sports content including the Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, Adobe Women’s FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, Gallagher PREM Rugby, Premiership Women’s Rugby, UFC, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis, Grand Tour cycling and much more.

“On the 26th March, TNT Sports will move from discovery+ to its new streaming home on HBO Max in the UK.  For existing customers, to keep streaming TNT Sports, simply download the HBO Max app, or go to HBOMax.com, and sign in using existing discovery+ login details.”
