Former employees of Alberta Health Services (AHS) are entitled to retroactive pay as part of the new collective agreement with AUPE.
If your employment with AHS, the pillars, or Lamont Health Care Centre ended on or after April 1, 2024, and before February 6, 2026, you can apply to receive your increased wages awarded in the new contract.
If you know any former AUPE members who might qualify for retroactive pay, please share this information with them!
Current employees get retroactive pay automatically
Members who have transferred to a provincial health agency (Recovery Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, Acute Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta, or Health Shared Services) are not required to request retroactive payment if they have maintained their employment as of February 6, 2026.
How to request retroactive pay
If you are a former member, you must send retroactive wage requests in writing to your old employer. Requests must be received by the employer no later than April 7, 2026. Requests can be sent by email or mail (Canada Post).

All written requests for retroactive increases should include the following information:
1. Employee legal first and last name;
2. Employee ePeople ID number;
3. Position held;
4. Employment termination date; and
5. Phone number in case the employer needs to call you.
Mailing or banking changes
If your mailing address or banking information has changed, you MUST update this information by calling the HR Contact Centre at 1-877-511-4455. The HR Contact Centre is open Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays) from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Requests to change mailing or banking information will not be accepted by email or letter. Identity verification is required to update this information.
All pay advice slips and T4s will be mailed to the last address on file unless otherwise instructed.

Retroactive pay requests submitted by email will receive the following confirmation.
General Query Bounce Back message: Thank you for submitting your request for retroactive payment pursuant to applicable of the collective agreement. This email message serves as confirmation of receipt of your request.
Please note if your mailing address on file (Pay advices and T4’s will be mailed or banking information has changed, it is your responsibility to update this by calling the HR Contact Centre: 1-877-511-4455. For security and verification reasons, you must call.
Note: Bank account and mailing address change requests will not be accepted via email or letter, and can only be processed by calling as verification of identity is a required condition to process such changes.
