Rochester, N.Y. — Aquinas stepped into the ring for this year’s “Knock Out” Parkinson’s Fundraiser.
The annual event builds up the Mission Bouts in March.
This year’s event brought together families, alumni, and advocates passionate about Parkinson’s research and finding a cure.
There was also food, raffles, apparel, and Mission Bout tickets for sale.
“Parkinson’s and boxing go back to Muhammad Ali, who ended up having Parkinson’s from his boxing career,” said Josh Leonardo, the co-head coach of the Aquinas Men’s Wrestling Team. “A lot of people find solace in boxing to help with their disease, it helps neurologically time up their body to punches and all that stuff. So boxing and Parkinson’s go hand in hand when we talk about that kind of stuff.”
All proceeds benefit the Parkinson’s Foundation, New York Chapter.
The Mission Bouts event takes place on March 6.
