LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Kentucky Derby Festival is offering a free training program for cyclists trying to get in shape for this year’s Tour de Lou.
Produced by the Louisville Bicycle Club, the six-week PNC Tour de Lou Training Program kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 22, and aims to help cyclists get ready for the annual Tour de Lou in April.
“Whether you’re new to cycling or getting back in the saddle, the PNC Tour de Lou Training Program is a great way to build confidence and prepare for ride day,” said Matt Gibson, Kentucky Derby Festival President & CEO. “With help from the Louisville Bicycle Club, riders learn practical tips on training, safety, and nutrition as they get ready for one of Louisville’s favorite spring traditions.”
The program will feature six weekly rides on Sundays at noon, offering training tips such as hand signals, rules of the road and nutritional information. All rides will start at the Waterfront Park Yellow Parking Lot and will increase by five miles from the previous week.

All cyclists must provide their own bike and are required to bring a helmet.
The first 250 riders to register for the program will receive a free training shirt.
