One of the tough parts of a legendary sports career is figuring out when to hang up the cleats/sneakers/skates for the final time.

LeBron James went into the NBA right out of high school as the first pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He played so long in the league that he became not only the all-time points leader, but also the first person to ever share the court with his son.

James is 41 years old, and the end of his career is looming. He is in the final year of his current contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, and this could end up being the final season of his Hall of Fame career.

The Lakers forward had an availability ahead of the 2026 NBA All-Star Game. He talked for about 15 minutes about the state of his career and answered reporters’ questions. The biggest was that he was asked about next season and said that, right now, all he knows is that he wants “to live.”

The Sporting News tracked updates from LeBron James Sunday press conference.
