WINNEBAGO, Ill. (WIFR) – Crossroads Community Church partners with the local park district to offer a clinic to help coaches be successful with their athletes on and off the pitch.
Rich Sparling led Sunday’s clinic at Winnebago Middle School. He’s a USA certified coach who has more than 40 years of experience at all levels of soccer. He also served as commissioner of the Women’s Premier Soccer League for six years.
Those who attended heard and learned from Rich on how they can develop and raise young athletes to become excellent adults.
His son Rich says the way coaching impacts a player will impact who they can become.
“Although we want to see players become better at the sport that they are playing, most importantly we want to see them grow up and become adults who are excellent in their communities,” said Rich. “Excellent husbands, fathers, mothers, wives, excellent employees, excellent business owners. That’s our greatest goal.”
