Two of the biggest stars in boxing history are set to square off this spring.
Undefeated five-division champion Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs) will compete in an exhibition on April 25 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to Ring Magazine.
Mayweather, 48, last fought John Gotti III in August 2024. His last professional fight, however, came against Conor McGregor in August 2017.
Tyson, 59, last fought Jake Paul in November 2024, resulting in a loss by unanimous decision.
The upcoming exhibition between Mayweather and Tyson comes nearly 52 years after boxing legends Muhammad Ali and George Foreman fought in “The Rumble in the Jungle” in Zaire, now known ad DRC, on Oct. 30, 1974. It marked the first-ever professional boxing match hosted in Africa.
Mobutu Nzanga Ngbangawe, the honorary vice prime minister of DRC, welcomed the news of Mayweather and Tyson’s upcoming bout.
“Very happy to hear the great news from @MikeCoppinger of @RingMagazine that boxing legends @MikeTyson and @FloydMayweatherwill face off in an exhibition match on April 25th in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, honoring the legacy of the Rumble in the Jungle 52 years later!,” he wrote in a post to X.
