The seizure by police of a handgun and drugs last week at a Mississauga home has led to numerous charges laid against two people.
Peel Regional Police said search warrants executed at the home on Feb. 12 led to the recovery by officers of a Glock 19 Gen 4 firearm with a magazine and ammunition, in addition to amounts of suspected cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy).
Specialized Enforcement Bureau officers, with help from the Peel police tactical squad, conducted the raid.
A man and woman were arrested the same day and charged with multiple firearm- and drug-related offences, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Police added the arrests were the culmination of an investigation the past several months conducted by officers from the SEB.
Tyrel Nicholson, 33, and Chantel Papp-Samuels, 28, both of Mississauga, are each charged with:
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Careless Storage of a Firearm
Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
Possession of a Controlled Substance — cocaine
Possession of a Controlled Substance — MDMA
Nicholson is also charged with two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to order.
Both were held in custody pending bail hearings in Brampton court.
The investigation continues.
