If you’ve been waiting for the affordable “A” series model in Google’s Pixel 10 line-up, which is often a better bet than the entry Pixel model, it’s finally here. The Pixel 10a, which will start at just $679 in Canada (US$499 in the U.S.), is only a slight step-down from the entry Pixel 10, making it a viable option for those on a tight budget.
The Pixel 10a has a completely flat back with a camera bar that blends into it so it can easily slip in and come out of your pocket, and lie flat on a surface. It’s made with the most recycled materials of any A-series phone, including recycled cobalt, copper, gold, and tungsten. The phone has a satin-finish, 100% recycled aluminium frame, and an 81% recycled plastic back cover.
Available in Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian, it meets IP68 water and dust protection and has an upgraded Corning Gorilla Glass 7i cover glass on the display. The phone comes equipped with a 6.3-inch Actua display that’s 11% brighter than Pixel 9a and offers faster charging up to 30W (with the Google 45W USB-C power charger), and more than 30 hours of battery life. Extend that to up to 120 with Extreme Battery Saver turned on.
It has a 48MP main camera and 13MP ultra-wide camera with features like macro focus and night sight. You get all the photo capture and editing goodies that come with the latest Pixel phones as well, including advanced ones like Auto Best Take and Camera Coach. Add Me can support small and large group photos and you can use Quick Share with AirDrop to share with iPhone.
The phone is powered by the Google Tensor G4 chip with access to Gemini and the ability to use tools like Gemini Live for natural, back-and-forth conversations and Nano Banana to reimagine photos, blend images together, and apply different creative styles. You can also use other AI-powered features like Circle to Search to learn more about anything on your screen by simply circling, tapping, or highlighting it. There are also Dialer features like Call Screen and Hold For Me.
The Google Pixel 10a is available for pre-order for $679 and will officially start shipping on March 5, 2026. Phone cases will be available in matching Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian. Complementing the phone, Google is launching Pixel Buds 2a in two new colours, Berry and Fog. As with other Pixel phones, Pixel 10a will come with seven years of OS updates.
The Google Pixel 10 has a more powerful G5 processor, more RAM, Pixelsnap wireless charging, and an additional telephoto lens. But it also has a smaller battery and lower-resolution front camera. Depending on what’s the biggest priority for you, you may find that the Google Pixel 10a meets you needs, especially considering it’s $420 cheaper, with the Pixel 10 starting at $1,099 in Canada.
