A bus driver for Brampton Transit faces eight counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one count of dangerous operation causing bodily harm following a crash that sent 10 people to the hospital.

Peel Regional Police announced the charges after investigating the Feb. 4 incident that happened just before 3 p.m. at Queen Street East and Hansen Road North.

Police say the person charged is a 58-year-old woman, but have not released her name.

A dash cam video widely circulated online shows a minivan entering the intersection and is almost immediately broadsided by an articulated rapit transit Züm bus. The minivan is pushed forward while the bus swerves to the left into oncoming traffic and comes to a rest in a parking lot snowbank.

Ten people were injured and taken to the hospital, but none of the injuries were considered serious.

The intersection was subsequently closed to traffic for several hours after the crash.
