Sam Weatherly scored twice to help lead the Tigers to a win over the visiting Cowboys on Wednesday in the first round of the playoffs.

Weatherly put Analy (21-0-2) ahead 1-0 at halftime and then made it 2-0 out of the break before Mateo Cortez put the game away with a goal in the second half.

The Tigers will host No. 14 seed Alameda (14-6-3) in the second round at 7 p.m. Saturday.

No. 14 Alameda 2, No. 3 Ukiah 1

The NBL-Oak champion Wildcats were upset at home in the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday night.

The Hornets (14-6-2) scored their goals on a pair of set pieces – which were their only shots of the game.

Ukiah’s season is over at 15-6.

No. 8 Archie Williams 2, No. 9 Windsor 0

The Peregrine Falcons scored two goals in quick succession to end the Jaguars’ season in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday.

The game was scoreless at halftime before Archie Williams scored two goals within five minutes of each other with under 30 minutes to play.

Windsor ends the season at 11-4-6 overall.

No. 5 Las Lomas 1, No. 12 Montgomery 1 (Las Lomas 6-5 PKs)

The Vikings lost a heartbreaker in penalty kicks on the road Wednesday night to see their season end in the first round of the playoffs.

With the game tied 1-1 after regulation, Montgomery (11-7-2) scored what would have been the game winner in the first overtime period, but it was wiped away as the officials called a handball on the Vikings.

The Knights (15-5) would go on to win the penalty kick shootout 6-5 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Division 4

No. 1 Petaluma 3, No. 16 Justin-Siena 2 (OT)

A back-and-forth battle between two Vine Valley Athletic League opponents ended in dramatic fashion as the Trojans escaped an upset by the Braves with a strange game-winning goal in overtime.

With the score tied 2-2 in the first extra period, a shot by Jordan Tetreau was stopped and smothered by Justin-Siena’s goalkeeper. However, as the keeper rose from his feet, the ball slipped from his grasp and bounced past the line, giving Petaluma the sudden-death victory.

It’s the first playoff win for the Trojans (8-6-6) since 2015.

Tetreau and Tyler Lamansky scored the first two goals of the game for Petaluma. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime before the Trojans scored early in the second half, only for the Braves (7-13-4) to answer with a goal with 20 minutes to play.

Petaluma will host No. 8 seed Marin Academy (6-9-7) in the second round at 7 p.m. Saturday.

No. 3 Piner 7, No. 14 Concord 1

The Prospectors netted a season high in goals in their playoff opener Wednesday against the visiting Bears.

Micah Santoyo had a hat trick while Alexis Leon, Mauricio Durante, Victory Suarez and Javier Lemus all added a goal apiece for Piner (8-5-5). It’s the first playoff win since 2020 for the Prospectors, who will host NBL-Redwood foe Santa Rosa (5-5-5), the No. 6 seed, in the second round at 7 p.m. Saturday.

No. 4 Roseland University Prep 3, No. 13 Cardinal Newman 1

The Knights took down the Cardinals in the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday as they began their section title defense.

Jonas Pena scored the first two goals to help RUP (8-3-8) out to a 2-0 lead by halftime.

Gavin Stone got a goal back for Newman (3-12-3) in the 58th minute, but Pena sealed the win with his third goal of the night in the 78th minute.

Adan Campos, Cris Cortes and Ian Pacheco had assists for Pena’s hat trick. It’s the first time that RUP has beaten Cardinal Newman since 2019.

The Knights will host No. 5 seed Tennyson (10-4-9) in the second round at 7 p.m. Saturday.

No. 6 Santa Rosa 3, No. 11 Vallejo 0

The Panthers got two goals from Liam Hadley in the first half Wednesday to pick up their first playoff win on the road since 2018.

Hadley scored both his goals within a five-minute span midway through the opening frame to put Santa Rosa (5-5-5) in control early. Jorge Jimenez then put the game out of reach with a goal in the second half.

The Panthers will face a familiar foe in the second round. They’ll play at No. 3 seed Piner (8-5-5) at 7 p.m. Saturday.

No. 2 Ukiah 2, No. 15 Redwood 0

The Wildcats scored twice in the second half to avoid an upset by the visiting Giants in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday.

Scoreless at halftime, Addison Huff got Ukiah (12-5) on the board with a PK and Kaci Maynard added a goal later in the second half off an assist from Allie Huff.

The Wildcats will host  No. 10 seed Northgate (10-2-5) in the second round at 7 p.m. Saturday.

No. 13 Miramonte 2, No. 4 Casa Grande 1

The Gaucho couldn’t overcome a two-goal deficit as their season ended in a first-round upset by the visiting Matadors on Wednesday.

Miramonte (10-4-2) led 1-0 at halftime and made it 2-0 in the early minutes of the second half. Casa Grande, which ends the year at 14-3-3, scored early in the second half but couldn’t net an equalizer.

No. 12 Liberty 1, No. 5 Windsor 0

The Jaguars were also upset on the road in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday, unable to answer an early goal from the Lions.

Liberty (13-2-3), which hosted the game despite holding a lower seed due to being a league champion, scored the game’s only goal in the first half.

It’s just the third time that Windsor (13-6) has been held without a goal this season.

No. 1 Las Lomas 2, No. 16 Montgomery 0

The Vikings battled tough on the road with the top-seeded Knights but ultimately fell in their playoff opener Wednesday.

Las Lomas (16-2-1) scored late in the first half and then put the game away with a goal in the closing minutes of the second half as Montgomery tried to push the issue looking for an equalizer.

The Vikings close out the year at 10-9-3 overall.

Division 4

No. 3 Rancho Cotate 3, No. 14 College Prep 1

The Cougars scored three times in the first half to roll past College Prep in their playoff opener Wednesday night.

It’s the first playoff win for Rancho Cotate (8-5-2) since 2011. Olivia Goff, MiaJane Smith and Aliyah Guizar all found the back of the net and Michelle Lopez dished out a pair of assists.

The Cougars will host No. 6 seed Pinole Valley (10-8-2) in the second round at 7 p.m. Saturday.

No. 8 Piner 3, No. 9 Kennedy-Fremont 3 (Kennedy 4-3 PKs)

The Prospectors saw their season end in a wild back-and-forth playoff opener Wednesday that was ultimately decided in a penalty kick shootout.

Piner, which finishes the season at 8-7-2, leapt out to a 2-0 lead in the first half before the Titans (13-6-1) convert a PK just before the break to make it 2-1.

The Titans then tied the game on another PK early in the second half, but the Prospectors went back ahead on a PK of their own not long after.

The Titans then scored one final goal in the closing minutes of regulation to send the game to overtime tied 3-3. They went on to win the shootout 4-3.

No. 12 Bay School 4, No. 5 Healdsburg 2

The Greyhounds fell to the visiting Breakers on Wednesday night to see their season come to a close in the first round of the playoffs.

June Nelson and Olivia Saini scored goals in the first half for Healdsburg (13-4-1) to send the game to halftime tied 2-2.

Bay School, however, went in front early in the second half and delivered the dagger down the stretch to secure the upset win.
