They called the fleet Brrrrr-ger Kings
One Canadian city is trying to bring smiles at the greyest time of year, and a local classroom joined in on the fun.
In Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mme. Evelyn Tugby’s Grade 6 class from École Van Belleghem won the city’s Name that Fleet contest.
A group of sidewalk-clearing snowplows will be called the Brrrr-ger Kings.
Get it?

The contest
Earlier this winter, the City of Winnipeg asked residents to submit pun-filled names for snow clearing equipment.
A pun is a play on words.
More than 1,700 entries were submitted.
After narrowing the list to 51 finalists, Winnipeggers voted for their favourites.
There were 12 winners for the city’s snowplows, including Dancing Blade, Melt Stegall, Emperor Plowpatine and Winnie the Plow.
There was even a Taylor Swift-inspired entry called Taylor Drift.
Local classrooms were invited to take part in the Name that Fleet category to choose the name of all the city’s sidewalk and pathway plows.

Tugby’s class brainstormed together, filling the board with ideas before voting through multiple rounds.
“It was an all class effort, so a lot of teamwork went into it,” Batya Adebayo, 11, told CBC Kids News.
“We didn’t have just one person say we’re going to pick Brrrr-ger King. We all decided together.”
Students said they chose the name because snow-clearing crews spend hours outside in freezing temperatures.
“They deserve a burger after a hard working day and coffee or hot chocolate, like a reward,” said Rihan Bodar.
The winning classroom entry also described the fleet as royalty for working so hard in the cold for the community.
A job well done
When the class found out they had won the contest, their Snapchat group chat lit up.
“As soon as it happened, it was just popping up, like so many notifications,” said Batya.
“Everything was just so crazy.”
As a prize, the class joined Mayor Scott Gillingham for a pizza party at city hall.

“Thank you to all the Winnipegers who brought the creativity, humour and local references to our first-ever Name that Plow contest,” Gillingham said in a news release.
He added that the names celebrate the hardworking crews who keep streets and sidewalks clear all winter long.
Brrrr-ger King will now appear on sidewalk-clearing machines across the city.
Now the class is hoping Burger King — the company — takes notice.
“I think maybe they’ll find out and reach out to us,” said another student, Hillary Ogunwole.
