The Ottawa police’s homicide unit is investigating after a person was found with life-threatening injuries outside the Rideau Centre Thursday evening, and later died in hospital. 

Emergency responders were called to the scene around 5:30 p.m., according to police.

Ottawa paramedics say an adult male was stabbed outside the mall entrance, and was transported to hospital where he was in critical condition.

Police say they succumbed to their injuries shortly after. 

One person has been taken into custody, according to police. 

The investigation is ongoing, and police say there is no risk to public safety.
