A Swift Current-raised product dominated at an interprovincial boxing event last weekend at the Cochranane Lions Event Centre, even getting in a knockout.

After winning gold in provincials earlier this month, 70-kilogram division athlete Jaden Toye won both of his matches in the Western Canadian Championships, which were hosted by the ShadowBox Boxing Club from February 13 to 15.

The 21-year-old said that he’s also been invited to a national training camp from March 4 to 9 in B.C. in preparation for nationals.

“It went amazingly,” he said. “I won all my matches and even scored a knockout, which was great.

“I set a plan into play and executed it very well, and when he came out of that corner, I knew he wasn’t ready for what I had next.”

Toye will also be Calgary-bound next month for the Junior, Youth, U23 Nationals and 2026 Canada Cup from March 18 to 22.

“Shoutout to Akropol, Speedy Creek Yard Maintenance, and everybody who supports me through my boxing journey,” he added. “I appreciate you all.”
