Former two-division UFC champ Amanda Nunes didn’t hold back in responding to Sean Strickland’s controversial remarks on female fighters.

Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland is known to make headlines in and out of the cage. Ahead of many of his UFC fights, Strickland has made controversial comments about women, homosexuals, politics, and other issues that draw strong reactions from fight fans.

Strickland will face surging middleweight contender Anthony Hernandez in the UFC Houston main event this Saturday. It’ll mark Strickland’s first fight since a lopsided defeat to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 312 last year.

As Strickland looks to get back into the middleweight title mix and to potentially earn a fight against Khamzat Chimaev, he’s back to his usual antics on the microphone.

“But really, like not many people give a f— about women’s MMA in general. It’s like the WNBA. Everyone’s like, Oh, no one gives a f— about women’s sports. Like, who cares? You’re watching two chicks. Like, you take the weakest, softest m———– here and you guys would beat up Amanda Nunes,” Strickland said of Nunes.

“There’s nothing wrong with women. I mean, they do great things. They cook, they clean, they make good food. Like, women are great. We’ve got to remember what women excel at: having kids, being mothers, making food, cleaning house. The problem is we’ve empowered them too much to ruin society.” (h/t MMA Weekly)

In a recent Instagram comment, Nunes hit back at Strickland.

“We do everything he said, and to top it all off, lol, we’re fighters too,” Nunes said.

“Girl power. Don’t cry, dude.”

Nunes was supposed to return at UFC 324 last month before her opponent, UFC women’s bantamweight champ Kayla Harrison, withdrew due to injury. She hasn’t fought since retiring at UFC 289 following a win over Irene Aldana.
