Former WWE Star Spotted At This Week’s Tryouts

A former WWE star is present at the ongoing NXT and Performance Center tryouts this week, but not as a participant.

WWE is holding tryouts this week for a whole host of indie wrestling stars, with WWE’s senior vice president of talent development & creative – in short the man who runs NXT – Shawn Michaels, sharing footage on social media.

The footage showcases the tryouts as they’re happening, with some interesting faces in attendance.

In addition to the indie talent actually taking part in the tryouts, WWE has many names on hand to help out with the coaching aspect.

As well as the usual Performance Center coaching team with the likes of Michaels, Matt Bloom, Robbie Brookside, Normal Smiley, Steve Corino and others, there are also some members of the active roster – as well as one former WWE star in Shayna Baszler.

Baszler was released by WWE in May 2025, but following her exit, it emerged that she had been seen working at NXT and the Performance Center, and she later made an appearance on the NXT Homecoming show in September.

In December, she stated that she hadn’t signed an official contract, but was on good terms with NXT and was working as a guest coach when the opportunity came up.

Also among the names helping out at the tryouts are WWE Raw stars Bayley and Grayson Waller, as well as NXT’s Kendal Grey, Tatum Paxley, Kelani Jordan, Shiloh Hill, Josh Briggs and Shawn Spears.
